South Tyneside Branch / SOUTH TYNESIDE BRANCH MEETINGS
« Last post by Annf on September 30, 2020, 04:40:35 PM »
Unfortunately due to Government Restrictions both nationally and more importantly with the stricter regulations coming into force in the North East of England, we have had no alternative but to cancel the Branch meetings, normally held in St Hilda's church, until further notice.

We sincerely hope that it will not be too long before we can welcome our members back to our meetings but this will of course only be done when it is safe to do so.

Please take care everyone and stay safe.

Ann

Durham - Belmont Branch / Branch Meetings Update

Unfortunately just as we were thinking about the possibility of restarting meetings in October we have been overtaken by events, with the latest Government “Rule of Six”. So we have had to postpone any thoughts about resuming in the near future. If, as seems likely, the restrictions continue into the New Year we may explore the possibility of holding meetings by Zoom (if our members agree)

South Tyneside Branch / "THE GREAT BRITISH DIG" - ITV CHANNEL 4
« Last post by Annf on September 13, 2020, 05:46:38 PM »
The South Tyneside Branch have been contacted by a Researcher for a production company called Strawberry Blond TV who are working on an archaeology show hosted by Hugh Dennis which will be appearing on Channel 4.  For their third episode they have been given permission to do an archaeological dig at Trow Rocks in South Shields which will take place week commencing 12th October 2020 for 5 days.  During this dig they are hoping to find artefacts relating to the Hiram Disappearing Gun on Trow Rocks from the 19th century, WW1, WW2 and even the Bronze Age.

If any of our members are interested, they are looking for local residents to go along to the dig.  If anyone would like further information, please contact the South Tyneside branch at southtynesidebranch@ndfhs.org.uk and we will be able to forward your enquiry to the Production Company.

Joyce:

Is that staff plus users or is it six library users?  If it's staff plus users then we will only be able to have three or four members using the library at one time.

No decisions have been taken about when we might resume meetings but we have not ruled out resuming in the autumn (not before October) but this will depend on Government advice and the current policies at our community centre.
