Unfortunately the monthly meeting scheduled for Wednesday 19th September coincided with 'Storm Ali' hitting our area, which may well have kept some of our members in the warmth of their homes. Nevertheless we had a productive meeting discussing future meetings.
We also discussed a 'missing burial record' from 1942 and thanks to the advice given at the meeting to check local papers, the mystery is now solved. Perhaps an air raid at the time of the burial might have had something to do with why it appears to be missing from the church records!!!
The next meeting of the Branch will be on Wednesday 17th October at 1.30pm, when Julian Harrop from Beamish Museum will be giving a talk entitled 'Snooping on Snaps', which centres around the photographs being collected by the museum. All are welcome to join us for what I am sure will be an interesting and entertaining afternoon.
